Nobel Prize 2017: Three US-Based Scientists Honoured With Medicine Award

The most prestigious literary awards have commenced and the first award winners have also been announced. The Nobel Medicine or Physiology Prize 2017 was presented to the three US-born scientists for their discoveries of molecular mechanisms controlling our biological clocks.

The award-presenting committee on Monday announced that Scientists Jeffrey Hall, Michael Rosbash and Michael Young were honoured with the literary award for their great contribution to the field of medicine. The awardees were presented with the prize money of 9 million Swedish crowns ($1.1 million).

Nobel Assembly at Sweden's Karolinska Institute stated, "Their discoveries explain how plants, animals and humans adapt their biological rhythm so that it is synchronized with the Earth's revolutions."

The awards which started in 1901 as per the will of dynamite businessman, Alfred Nobel honour the extra-ordinary laureates for their great achievements in the field of science, literature and peace.
