Shah Rukh Khan’s Cousin Noor Jehan To Contest Elections In Pakistan?

Shah Rukh Khan’s Pakistani cousin Noor Jahan may contest the elections to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on a seat reserved for women. As per a report in Voice of America, Noor Jehan will contest from the progressive Awami National Party that was founded by Abdul Wani Khan, the son of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan. Interestingly Shah Rukh’s father was a freedom fighter and a staunch follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan.

Noor Jehan is Shahrukh’s first cousin. She is the daughter of Ghulam Mohammad alias Gama who was the elder brother of Shah Rukh’s father Meer Taj Mohammad. As per reports, she lives in the Shah Wali Qataal area near historic Qissa Khwani Bazaar area of Peshawar. This is where Shah Rukh’s father had lived in his early days. It is adjacent to the place where Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar was born and is just a few kilometres from the ancestral place of Raj Kapoor.

Noor Jehan met her cousin and the King of Bollywood in 1997 when she travelled to Mumbai in 1997. Speaking about Khan she said, "I am proud of my cousin and have named my child after him. Shah Rukh has given us pride and recognition."

As per Noor Jehan and her brother Mansoor, Shahrukh had visited his ancestral place twice in 1978 and in 1980 when he was quite young.
