Former Grand Slam Winning Tennis Superstar Bob Hewitt has been jailed for six years by South African High court for raping underage girls on Monday.
Hewitt, 75, was convicted of two charges of rape and a third charge of sexual assault.
"There are clearly no prospects of rehabilitation, The effective period of imprisonment is six years." said Judge Bam.
For rape, he received an eight-year prison term, two years suspended on condition that he pays 50 000Rands to the Department of Justice to use in campaigns against violence against women.
For sexual assault, he received two years suspended.
"If he had been convicted in his 50s, he would have received at least a 20-year jail term" Bam said.
Hewitt who was born in Australia, was found guilty of raping Theresa "Twiggy" Tolken and Suellen Sheehan in the 1980s and for sexually assaulting a third woman, who may not be named, in the 1990s.
