US President Donald Trump's wife, first lady Melania Trump sparked outrage and trolling on Friday after a visuals of her wearing a Zara jacket with the slogan "I really don't care, do u?" on her way to a shelter for children went viral.

Melania's green, hooded, military jacket with the slogan on the back raised more controversy since she wore it on Thursday on her way to visit a shelter for children who had been separated from their parents along the Mexico border.

Human rights organisation Amnesty International condemned the 'blatant lack of empathy' in Melania's jacket.

"We are shook by the blatant lack of empathy in Melania Trump’s jacket she wore to visit children in detention in Texas," said Amnesty International.

Trollers went so far as to compare Melania to the last Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, who infamously said 'Let them eat cake' when she was told that the peasants had no bread.

While spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said that there was no hidden message to the slogan and it was just a jacket, US President Trump himself defended his wife's jacket, saying that the message was directed towards 'Fake news' media.

"It's a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today's important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn't going to choose to focus on her wardrobe," said Grisham.

Trump defence of Melania came in a tweet, “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!"
