Prime Minister Narendra Modi is often mocked for his 'hugplomacy' and the warm handshakes he greets foreign leaders with, but the recent warm welcome which US President Donald Trump extended to French President Emmanuel Macron has had Twitterati in a tizzy.

France's President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte were welcomed to the White House on Monday afternoon for the first state visit under the Trump administration. After an official 'arrival ceremony' on Tuesday morning, the Trump's hosted their first state dinner on Tuesday night.

The first meet between Trump and Macron was more formal with a stiff hand-shake in Brussels, but the visit of Macron to Washington has already witnessed clumsy handshakes, awkward air kisses and wiping dandruff, hinting a blossoming 'bromance'.

While giving a joint address to media, Macron and Trump shook hands, after which Macron appeared to lean in and give Trump an air kiss, to which Trump said "I like him a lot."

At another time, Trump was spotted brushing dandruff off of the shoulder of the French President.

In a different instance, Trump was spotted leading Macron away while holding his hand.

Meanwhile, at the official welcome, the US President had a bit more difficulty in successfully holding the hand of his wife, First Lady Melania Trump.
