Mona LisaA French Scientist, Pascal Cotte claims to have found a hidden portrait under that of the world-famous 'Mona Lisa' portrait. Cotte, who has spent over 10 years analysing Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece, used a technique dubbed Layer Amplification Method (LAM). Pascal Cotte is the co-founder of the Paris-based company Lumiere Technology that works closely with museums and galleries to digitise their fine-art pieces. In an interview with the BBC, Cotte said, "We can now analyse exactly what is happening inside the layers of the paint and we can peel like an onion all the layers of the painting." He further added "We can reconstruct all the chronology of the creation of the painting." The Louvre Museum has not yet commented on Cotte's findings, but the scientist believes his discovery sheds new light on the ongoing discussion.
