Tamil superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday finally confirmed his entry into the field of politics, saying that he would float a new political party and contest in all of the state's 234 constituencies in the next Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for 2021.

Rajinikanth's announcements came after 6 days of interacting with his fans.

"I have thousands of fans associations. This is more than what most political parties can boast of. I will bring all of them together. People from all walks of life, from villages to cities need to come together. This is my first task to you. Bring everyone together. Apart from this, we need to maintain discipline. Do not find faults with others, don't blame or bad mouth others," said Rajinikanth, as he announced his political plans.

The entry of the great Thalaivar in politics was hailed by his fans far and wide, as well as by the film industry. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, however, called Rajinikanth illiterate.

"He only announced he is entering politics, had no details or documents, he is illiterate. Its only media hype, people of Tamil Nadu are intelligent. Let him announce political party name and candidates and then I will expose him," said Swamy.

Rajinikanth's fans took to Twitter to celebrate his entrance into politics.
