Former England Captain Michael Vaughan has always admired the Aussie captain Steve Smith's play on the field and the same goes for Indian skipper Virat Kohli. However, his liking towards Smith is somehow more than Kohli as proved by his statements where he addresses the Indian cricketer as 'freak'.

Vaughan went a step ahead recently and dug his own grave when he called Steve better than Kohli in his cryptic tweet posted on Saturday. Following the Australian captain smashed an unbeaten 229 during the 3rd Ashes Test, Michael's comparative tweet sparks a Twitter war on the micro-blogging website.

Michael Vaughan tweeted, "IMO ... @imVkohli is the best player across the 3 formats ... But @stevesmith49 is the best in Tests ... #OnOn #Ashes ... Although I would really like both in the same team ...."

The former cricketer's opinion didn't sit well with the Kohli fans who bombarded the player with nasty and challenging comments. While some were enraged with Michael's tweet, others felt that the analysis was correct but could have been presented in a humble manner.

The Indian skipper is currently enjoying his honeymoon with new wife Anushka Sharma and will join his squad back for the series against South Africa in January next year. The Australian captain on Saturday reached his highest Test score by passing his fastest century.

Steve scored another double century in the series against England. The Aussie scored an unbeatable 229 runs off 390 balls including 28 fours and one six and edged his 1000 test runs mark for the year.
