DMK Worker Assaults Woman Inside Beauty Parlour In Tamil Nadu, Act Caught On CCTV

A former Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) corporator S Selvakumar has been arrested by police on Thursday over physically assaulting and kicking a woman repeatedly at a beauty salon in Tamil Nadu's Perambalur.

The incident took place on May 25 at the Mayuri Beauty Parlour in Perambalur. The time incident went viral on WhatsApp and other social media platforms, DMK has suspended Selvakumar from the primary membership of the party.

"We saw the video only yesterday (Wednesday) and based on the woman’s complaint, we have arrested Selvakumar and will remand him today (Thursday). The intention behind releasing the video is not yet known and we are questioning Sathya regarding that," a police official told the news minute.

Initially, in the video, Selvakumar can be clearly seen as speaking to women, but a few seconds later he started kicking her.

Later as the things heated, Selvakumar grabs women neck and pulls her onto the floor. The three women standing around them are trying to stop Selvakumar as the kicks become more brutal.

One of the women's can be seen holding Selvakumar hand to stop him.

In a press release, DMK said, "The party suspends him from basic membership and all party posts due to actions that go beyond the code of conduct of the party and for defaming the party."
