It's Time To Stop Hiding: Acid Attack Survivor's Message Strikes A Chord With Twitterati

An aspiring model in London, Resham Khan, had her world turned upside down when on her 21st birthday she and her cousin became the victims of an acid attack, leaving both with horrific injuries.

However, despite her painful injuries and after a gruelling recovery period, Resham is back to her spirited self as she shared a picture on her Twitter profile captioned 'It's time to stop hiding'.

On June 21, Resham, a student of business management, and her cousin Jameel Muhktar, 37, were in a car on Tollgate Road in east London when a man hurled a corrosive substance through the window resulting in horrific injuries. Resham suffered from severe injuries to the skin on her face and shoulder in the attack, while her cousin also suffered from face and neck injuries.

Weeks after the attack Resham was shattered emotionally, as she wrote in an open letter on how her plans to become a model were "in pieces", her pain "was unbearable" and how she was waiting "for the return" of her own face.

Recovering her hope, Resham began sharing updates on her social media profiles on the recovery from her injuries.

In September on the occasion of Eid, Resham shared pictures of herself decked up in new clothes and wearing makeup, but she kept her injured side hidden.

In connection with the incident 25-year-old John Tomlin of Canning Town in east London was arrested and earlier this month pleaded guilty to two counts of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

As Resham shared her full face on social media, her followers hailed her spirit.
