AGRASEN KI BAOLI: [caption id="attachment_38309" align="aligncenter" width="700"]theurgetowander_thumb (photo: showearth.com)[/caption] Situated in Connaught Place, near Jantar Mantar, Agrasen ki Baoli is famous for its beautiful architecture and impressive design. It was built by Maharaja Agrasen during the Mahabharat era and consists of 103 steps of red stone . Apart from this, it is one of the haunted places of India. It is believed that the baoli (step well) was earlier filled with black water which attracted mostly disheartened, dejected and depressed admirers . This mystic water left a hypnotizing effect on the people and compelled them to jump into the water . What adds to its spooky content is the ambiance of this baoli. It’s a silent place that houses various pigeons and birds and witness loud and shrill cry of the bats. If you want to experience something different, you must visit this place! 2. SANJAY VAN : [caption id="attachment_38313" align="aligncenter" width="700"]Sanjay_Van (PHOTO: dda.org.in)[/caption] Sometimes, its really difficult to find the real story behind a place. All you have is the eye witnesses account of experiencing something paranormal and spooky.  One such place is Sanjay Van. Situated near Vasant Kunj , it’s a forest area stretching around 10 km and has its own share of horror stories. However, every story narrated has one element in common : the woman in the white saree. It is said that at night, the woman draped in white saree is seen hanging on an old peepal (banayan) tree. Sounds like a typical clichéd bollywood movie? You need to go to this place to see if these stories are actually true! 3. DELHI CANTONMENT: [caption id="attachment_38322" align="aligncenter" width="700"]delhi_image_title_doxza (PHOTO: instablogs.com)[/caption] When you ask people about this place , they grow white in fear. Many years ago, a woman with her child met with an accident when a speeding car hit them from back. Instead of helping the lady take her child to the hospital , the people in the car abandoned them and left for their safety. The lady lost her child and demanded justice for her child. Instead she died under mysterious circumstances. It is believed that every night ,that lady asks for lift on that same road . If you don't stop, she runs at the same speed as the car !!! Missed a heart beat??? 4. LOTHIAN CEMETERY [caption id="attachment_38318" align="aligncenter" width="700"]CEM (PHOTO: pokeyournose.com)[/caption] Located near Kashmeri Gate, it is a cemetery built in 1700's. It's the place where a mass burial took place in 1857 .Numerous times, people have reported seeing a ghost walk with his head held in his hands on moon-less nights. The ghost without a head is said to be the spirit of a British soldier who shot himself in the head after the woman he loved got married. Struck-dumb?? 5. HOUSE NO W-3, GREATER KAILASH: [caption id="attachment_38406" align="aligncenter" width="700"]2290369985_001498ed53 (1) (PHOTO: flickr.com)[/caption] Some years ago, an old couple was murdered ruthlessly in this house. On investigating, the police discovered fully decomposed bodies of the couple under the water tank. However, no one came forward to claim the bodies. Some did but just wanted the beautiful property and due to lack of evidence, no one got the rights of the house. Since then, its an abandoned property. Though the case remains unsolved till date but the residents around the house  have encountered some paranormal activities like loud cries and sobs ,screams and shadows with no master. If you don't believe it, you have to go there at night to see it yourself!! It gave me jitters. 6. KHOONI NADI : [caption id="attachment_38375" align="aligncenter" width="700"]Rohini_River (PHOTO:what-buddha-said.net )[/caption] Did it remind you of the movie 'Khooni Parinde'. Though the name of the place sounds like a typical Bollywood movie title, it is one of the most haunted places of Delhi. A river flowing through the Rohini area of Delhi, it played host to a number of suicides. Some people believe that once you enter the river , there are some mysterious forces that pull you inside and you drown. So for all those who cant swim, its a request not to try this without proper supervision! 7. FEROZ SHAH KOTLA FORT: [caption id="attachment_38371" align="aligncenter" width="700"]feroz-shah-kotla-fort_0063 (PHOTO: feroz-shah-kotla.blogspot.com )[/caption] Feroz Shah Kotla is located near Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in between New Delhi and Old Delhi. It was a fortress built by Sultan Feroz Shah Tughlaq to house his version of Delhi city called Ferozabad. Though the fort is ruined and has less visitors, it is famous for the horror of the Djinns . The presence of Djinns inside the dark halls and empty corners produce an eerie vibe. If you want to enjoy a dinner date with the Djinns, visit Feroz Shah Kotla. (FYI : They likes sweets and milk every Thursday!) 8. KHOONI DARWAZA: [caption id="attachment_38370" align="aligncenter" width="700"]Khuni_Darwaza (PHOTO:wikipedia)[/caption] Khooni Darwaza(bloody gate) initially known as Lal Darwaza was built by Emperor Sher Shah Suri in 1540's. During the Partition riots of 1947, Khooni Darwaza was stained with the blood of hundreds of refugees who were killed while they were proceeding towards the Purana Qila for shelter. After this incident, it was  renamed to Khooni Darwaza or the bloody gate. It is believed that you can feel the presence of those hundreds of people killed . 9. KARKARDOOMA COURT COMPLEX: [caption id="attachment_38367" align="aligncenter" width="700"]KK (PHOTO: delhicourts.nic.in)[/caption] A court as it is looks spooky and scary . what has added to the horror is the presence of a shadowy figure. Karkardooma court complex has witnessed a ghostly presence whose shadows have been caught on CCTV cameras. Though the people claim that the ghosts are 'not harmful' and 'never disturb', it is scary to share the same space with them. It seems like the ghost wanted to file a petition or a case and no one is hearing its plea. And Lastly, 10. MALCHA MAHAL, DELHI RIDGE: [caption id="attachment_38366" align="aligncenter" width="700"]wetland-inside-north-delhi-ridge (PHOTO: urbanecology.in)[/caption] Located in a village called Malcha, this place is surrounded by forests and the Delhi Ridge.
