NWI Exclusive: Watch How This 117-Year-Old Building In Mumbai's Bhendi Bazaar Collapsed

A 117-year old 5-storied building in Mumbai's Bhendi Bazar collapsed on Thursday evening killing over 34 people.

The collapse of the building took place barely two days after torrential rains plagued Mumbai city, resulting in water logging on roads and shut down of rail and flight services. According to reports, the heavy rains likely caused further damage to the dilapidated structure resulting in its collapse.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the site of the building collapse and ordered an inquiry by the state's additional chief secretary. The CM also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of the deceased and that the government would bear all medical expenses of those injured.
