| October 25 , 2017 , 15:14 IST

Known for her dancing skills, Deepika Padukone as the Rani Padmani aces the traditional Rajasthani dance form of 'ghoomar' and her movements are befitting the role of a royal Rajasthani queen. The song is melodious and soothing, with an instantly noticeable Rajasthani flavour, that will remain with you long after listening to the song. Sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Rajasthani singer Swaroop Khan, the music has been given by the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

In addition to the choreographer Kruti Mahesh, an expert in Rajasthani classical dance forms Jyoti D Toomar was also called in to train Deepika for over a fortnight before the shoot, so that the talented actress could master the dance form.

"The footwork is important in this dance. It took her a day to shift from what she has been doing so far, to what she was required to do for the song," said Mahesh to media.

Even after learning the steps, dancing to the song was not easy due to the heavy costumes and jewelry, revealed Deepika.

"The shooting of the film began with this song, and I'll never forget that day. I remember approaching my mark for the first shot. It was almost as if Padmavati's soul had entered my body. I could feel her presence; and, in fact, I still do. It's one of those rare moments in an actor's life where it's going to take a very long time before it actually leaves the system," said Deepika.
