'Gold' Teaser: Akshay Kumar's Crazy Bengali And His Passion For Hockey Is Infectious

Bollywood's money machine Akshay Kumar has ventured into the offbeat concepts, creating awareness regarding various social evils and historical events through his artistic creations. After visualising the demons of sanitation and menstrual hygiene in his ventures, the actor is all ready to bring the epic saga of India's first Olympic gold medal on screens.

Akshay Kumar's upcoming film 'Gold' showcases the struggle of a hockey player during his journey of winning a first Olympic medal for free India in 1948. After the excruciating wait of months makes released the teaser of Reema Kagti directorial along the lines, "Abhi tak India chup tha. Ab hum log bolega aur duniya sunega."

Set in the backdrop of 1946, the 1 minute 7-second clip showcases that the intensity of situation during and after India's independence, especially for the sports enthusiasts who wanted to make their nation proud. Gold's story revolves around a crazy Bengali, as the protagonist calls himself, who loves Hockey but struggle throughout his life to prove the same to the world.

Produced under the banner of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment, Gold is the official ticket to Bollywood for television actress Mouni Roy. Earlier the film was anticipated to be the biopic of former hockey player Balbir Singh Sr. which Sidhwani clarified stating, "It is a completely fictional story but it is set against a real backdrop between 1933-48 India about what the country was, the sports... About hockey."
