First Indian Woman Wrestler In WWE, Fights Clad In Salwar-Kameez [WATCH]

Many Indian Wrestlers have proved their mettle in WWE, from the great Khali to the reigning champion, Jinder Mahal. India has been a proud producer of great wrestlers but never has an Indian woman battled in the ring of WWE, until now.

Kavita Devi is the first Indian woman wrestler to compete in WWE. Apart from her wrestling skills, what grabbs eyeballs is her outfit. Instead of wearing the normal wrestling outfit, Kavita fought wearing Salwar and Kameez.

The former champion powerlifter made her WWE debut in August in the inaugural Mae Young Classic which is WWE's first all-women tournament. The Indian Wrestler fought the New Zealand-based Dakota Kai in the first round.

Trained by the Great Khali himself in his Punjab Academy, Devi hails from Haryana. Beating the rest in the trials, Devi has gained herself a spot in the tournament among the 32 participants.

Canyon Ceman, Vice President, WWE Talent Development, said, “Kavita Devi gave a strong performance at WWE’s 2017 Dubai try out. She is an athletic and extremely strong woman who demonstrated a solid grasp of the fundamentals of sports entertainment.”

Kavita has been highly inspired by wrestlers like The Undertaker and Chyna. She wanted to become the first Indian woman to gain a world title. Looking at her skills, her wish might soon come true.
