Men are banned from entering this African village situated in the northern region of Kenya. Umoja village came into existence about 25 years ago in the wake of crime against women by few English men. Since then, Umoja village became a hub to protect women.
Today, women rule this single-sex village and inhabitants mostly include the victims of domestic violence, rape, child marriage, molestation and female genital mutilation.
These women earn their livelihood from the tourists who come to visit this unique land on earth, they hold a campaign for the tourists, carving jewelry and preserve their traditional practices.
