Happy Diwali: Xiaomi Redmi 5A Launched, Offers MIUI 9 And Metal-Like Matte Texture

The Chinese tech giant, Xiaomi has captured the Indian markets with it's budget phones. The company gives another surprise to India just ahead of Diwali with the launch of Redmi 5A.

The brand was earlier reported to be working on its series 5 phones to replace the series 4 devices. The first phone of the series was expected to be Redmi 5A with the price tag of under Rs 10,000 to target the middle-class groups.

The smartphone offers a metal-like matte texture which as per the company claims is "much lighter than the metal." The rounded corners of the smartphones contribute to the overall display of the light-weight phone.

Xiaomi's latest entry-level smartphone might miss the fingerprint scanner but the latest MIUI 9 makes up for it. The smartphone was launched in China will the price tag of CNY 599 that is approximately Rs. 6,000.

Chinese customers will be able to order the smartphone from Monday while no specific date for the India launch has yet been mentioned. The smartphone offers a 5-inch display with the resolution of 720x1280 pixels.

Powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, the device comes coupled with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone offers the storage capacity of 16GB which is expandable up to 128GB. The dual-sim device comes with the battery capacity of 3000 mAh.

Redmi 5A comes with the rear camera of 13-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture while the selfie shooter comes with 5-megapixel lens and f/2.0 aperture. The device has a speaker grill at the rear end with an LED flash near the rear camera.

As per the leaked reports, Xiaomi is soon planning to the unveil Redmi 5, Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in November. If the launch delays by a few months, India will supposedly witness the device in early months of next year.

Details leaked by the popular tipster, Ronald Quandt suggested that the Redmi 5 might come in 16GB and 32GB storage variants and offer two colour options- Gold and Black whereas Redmi 5 Plus will come in two storage variants that are 32GB and 64GB. The device will also come in two colour options that are Gold black and Grey.

Ronald claims that all the phones will be available in the International market within few days of its China launch. He suggested through a tweet that there could be more colour option than reported earlier.

His tweet read, "Btw, those are only the colors I can confirm are coming - more options possible." A leaked image of Redmi 5A which was lately breaking the internet suggested that it has a metallic body and won't be much different from Redmi 4A.

Xiaomi phones have had a long history of leaked details, most of which come out to be true. In the latest Diwali sales, the brand has created history with its record-breaking sales in the Indian market.
