The Facebook-owned messaging platform, WhatsApp has bad news for the users of BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10 and Windows Phone 8.0 and older operating systems as the application will stop working on these devices from December 31, 2017.

The blog post uploaded by WhatsApp authorities mentioning end-of-life dates for particular versions of OS confirms the news. While extending the application's support for the two platforms in June this year, the company has clarified that it will stop working on Nokia S40 from December 31, 2018.

Upon inspecting the entire list of end dates for app users, we found out that the smartphones running on Android 2.3.7 and older won't be able to use the messaging app from February 1, 2020, whereas Nokia phones running Symbian S60 do not have access to WhatsApp since June 30, 2017.

Reports suggest that the mentioned phones will not receive any further support and will altogether be denied access to WhatsApp. The uses of the specified Blackberry and Windows Phone are suggested to upgrade their smartphones for using WhatsApp properly.

WhatsApp has stopped working on updates for other OS versions like Windows Phone 7, Android 2.1, Android 2.2 and iOS 6 in 2016. Earlier this month, WhatsApp launched its standalone business application for providing a formal route to the users for conducting business through the platform.
