- Tap on 'Shared' and then on 'Contacts' to find people you may know or to add contacts via an invitation link or phone book

- Tap on chat to start a new conversation with your contact

For Group Chat

- Tap on the three dots icon on the top right corner and add a participant. You can also find options to leave the chat and mute notifications

- You can also create a group chat by tapping on New Group under the shared tab. First type name then add participants from your contacts

For Web version

- Log in to YouTube web then go-to Home and click 'Share' button on the top-right corner to see your contacts

- Click on 'Contacts' to add a new contact and YouTube will suggest people you may know

The user must remember that the recipient should have his/her YouTube notifications settings switched on, else they won't be notified about your message.
