Google Celebrates Holi With A Colourful Doodle

Google too is celebrating Holi today. The Google doodle looks colourful and focus on colours and celebrations. The doodle depicts dhol and carries four colours each symbolic of a unique Holi character. While Red is for love and fertility, yellow signifies turmeric, a natural remedy. Blue represents Lord Krishna and finally green signifies the onset of spring and new beginnings.  

The doodle has been illustrated by Amrita Marino, an independent graphic designer and illustrator based in Brooklyn, New York.

Google doodle’s official blog reads, ”Red, yellow, blue, and green are a few of our favorite colors all year round, but today we’re putting them front and center for an extra special reason.”

“Today’s Guest Doodle by Amrita Marino depicts dhol players amongst a cloud of color. These traditional drummers move from house to house, adding a peppy, musical touch to the day's festivities. The four main powder colors carry with them a piece of symbolism. Red signifies love and fertility; yellow is the color of turmeric, a natural remedy; blue represents the beloved Krishna; green symbolizes spring and new beginnings.” The blog further reads

Holi is being celebrated across India and in several other nations. The reach of the google doodle is beyond India, in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and even Estonia.

Google has also shared five early drafts of the Holi doodle.
