A month after resigning from both the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Lok Sabha, Tariq Anwar on Saturday has joined back the Indian National Congress (INC).

Anwar had left the Congress party more than 19 years ago to form the NCP along with Sharad Pawar and late PA Sangma.

According to reports, Anwar had resigned from the NCP on September 27 after differences with Pawar, who is the Party President.

Anwar was not happy after the party chief Pawar defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the alleged Rafale Deal scam.

Pawar was quoted in media giving a clean chit to PM Narendra Modi in the deal, however, later Pawar had clarified at a party meeting in the Marathwada region that he had not supported PM Modi.

"Some people have criticized me, saying that I supported him (PM Modi). But I did not support him and will never (do that)," Pawar said.

In 1999, Anwar, Pawar and Sangma had left Congress party and formed Nationalist Congress Party.

Anwar was welcomed into the party in the presence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Ashok Gehlot and Congress Bihar in-charge Shaktisinh Gohil.
