The first look of 'Chhapaak' was revealed by the film’s lead Deepika Padukone and maker Meghna Gulzar on Monday. Deepika’s character is called ‘Malti’ and is based on real-life acid attack victim Laxmi Agarwal.

Posting the picture the actress said that the character will remain special for her forever and she looked exactly the same as the acid attack survivor. Prosthetics aside, it's the intensity in Deepika's eyes that will win you over for we believe, only she can emote so effortlessly with her mere eyes.

Like in this picture, there's a lingering sadness but there's also an undying hope to stand tall against all odds and never, ever give up in life. The film revolves around a girl who suffered an acid attack and how she stood strong facing all the odds.

'Chhapaak' will also see the actress foray into production under her banner, KA Entertainment and it goes on floor in Delhi today.

For the uninitiated, Laxmi was 15 when the attack occurred, which was at a New Delhi bus stop in 2005. Her attacker, a 32-year old man, was an acquaintance of her family. Later, she took up the job of helping acid attack survivors and promoted campaigns to stop such attacks. She is a well-known advocate of stricter punishments in acid attack cases.

There is an uncanny similarity between the survivor and Deepika," adding that the film will show people the havoc that violence can wreak in a person’s life.
