Wrestler Sushil Kumar To Represent India In 2018 Commonwealth Games

Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar qualified to represent India in the 2018 commonwealth games after beating Jitender Kumar during qualification trials in the 74kg weight category on Friday. If won. the celebrated wrestler will add the third gold medal to his tally of badges won in the quadrennial event.

The player to now head to the Gold Coast of Australia for continuing his winning streak and repeat the history as created in 2010 and 2014 in New Delhi and Glasgow respectively. Following his lengthy absence from the game, the wrestler made his glorious comeback in the Commonwealth Wrestling Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa by winning gold.

The 34-year-old wrestler was unable to fight in the 2015 selection trials for World Championships which also constituted Rio Olympic qualifiers due to the fatal injury he suffered during the 2014 commonwealth games.

Following the allegations of spiking his fellow wrestler's drink during the Rio games qualifiers last year, Kumar faced heavy insults from the Wrestling Federation of India and Delhi High Court, who cost him the chance to participate in Olympics.

The wrestler hopes to win the forthcoming Commonwealth Games and makes the nation proud. After qualifying for the event, he tweeted, "All set for final selection trial for upcoming #Commonwealthgames. With all the wishes & blessings, I am sure to make my country proud again. Jai Hind."
