German No. 13 seed Serena Williams progressed to the finals after defeating Julia Georges in the semi final match at the All England Club on Thursday.

Serena Williams is booked against Angelique Kerber in the final encounter.

Williams ended with a score of 6-2, 6-4 that lasted for 70 minutes, while Kerber beat Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko 6-3 6-3.

The delighted Williams after winning the match said, “It’s crazy I don’t even know to feel because I literally didn’t expect to do this well in my fourth tournament back in 16 months.”

Serena returned back strong after she left the French Open due to some injury in the round of last eight. It seems that Williams took baby steps to advance to her 10th Wimbledon Finals.

It has been a sensational fortnight for the 36-year-old finalist. It was the fourth event for Serena after she gave birth to baby girl Olympia.

“I had a really tough delivery and I had to have multiple surgeries. I remember I couldn’t even walk to my mailbox so it’s definitely not normal to be in a Wimbledon final. I’m taking it as it is and just enjoying every moment,” Serena said.

This match marked only the 13th since she returned to the Tour four months ago. The world No.181 was the lowest-ranked woman in the Open era to reach a semi-final at Wimbledon.

Her performance in the current edition of the Wimbledon has surpassed many of her amazing performance including title runs in 2015 and 2016.
