The United Nations and Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) are all ready to join hands for a greater cause. The two will organise a charity Football match in Geneva on April 21, 2018 to finance the "international humanitarian and development projects".

Two teams full of top football players under the management of Champions League winner Carlo Ancelotti and France coach Didier Deschamps will lock horns in the field. The two teams will be captained by Luis Figo and Ronaldinho respectively.

Talking about his association with the initiative, Figo said, " I am honoured to participate in this global event. As the most popular sport in the world, football is uniquely placed to bring people together and to be a force for good."

He further added, " As players, it is great that we can give something back to society and help create a better world."

While the former international referee Pierluigi Collina will officiate the contest, the team members are yet to be finalised. All the proceeds collected from the charity match will be spent in strengthening the global solidarity.
