Indian cricket team tested its batting line up in the warm-up match against English county club Essex. They posted 395 runs on the board in the first innings.

Indian team management demanded to reduce the four-day match to three days so that the team could practice one more day.

India is on a full-fledged tour to England where the side has won the T20I series 2-1 and lost the ODI series from the same margin.

The strong batting line-up looked good in the first innings. Opener Shikhar Dhawan was out on a duck while the middle order exhibited strong batting performances. Captian Kohli and Vijay scored individual half-centuries on day one after the fall of three wickets with just 44 runs on the board.
