India and England settled for a 1-1 draw at the 27th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament on Sunday. Shilanand Lakra scored his maiden international goal for India in the 14th minute but Mark Gleghorne converted a penalty stroke in the 52nd minute to tie the score for England.

India and England gain their first points in the first and last quarter respectively which helped them in typing the game. Despite India's impressive defence play, they lacked in skill to convert multiple penalty corners and ended up losing a chance to record a historic victory.

India lost its opening game against Rio Olympic champions  Argentina 3-2 on Saturday which left men in blue with just one point from two games at the tournament. Inexperience was dripping from the team's performance today as key players have been rested.

Major players including Akashdeep Singh, SV Sunil, Mandeep Singh, Manpreet Singh, PR Sreejesh, Rupinder Pal Singh and Harmanpreet Singh are missing from the main team currently and won't be joining anytime soon, which will surely take a toll on the overall performance.

India now play against Australia on Tuesday, March 6.
