Roger Federer celebrated his return to World No.1 ranking with a win over Grigor Dimitrov 6-2 6-2 and claiming the second title of the season on Sunday. He had won all previous six matches against Dimitrov and looked in command the entire 55 minutes.

Federer, 36, became the oldest tennis player to become No.1 in rankings by securing a win over Robin Haas in the semi-finals. He eclipses the previously held record of Andre Agassi who was at the time three years younger than the Swiss.

He broke the Bulgarian opponent early in the contest and cruised to a one-set lead at the Ahoy Rotterdam. Playing flawless tennis, the 20-times major winner carried the momentum forward in the second set to seal a 97th career title and third in Rotterdam having won in 2005 and 2012.

Roger Federer is undefeated this year, and it seems like he has turned the clock back as he passes through opponents with ease and also goes through 5-set wars.

This was the 97th career title for Federer and he himself has admitted that his next target for his career is to extend that record to 100. In the Open era, only American Jimmy Connors has won more titles than Swiss master Federer, with 109.
