Real Madrid made history on Saturday evening at Kiev, Ukraine as they defeated rivals Liverpool 3 goals to 1 in the finals of the Champions League. Nobody expected Zinedine Zidane’s side to crush Liverpool who had a great run up to the finals in this tournament. This is the team's third consecutive Champions League trophy in a row.

The Reds lost their leading scorer Mohamed Salah to an injury in the first half of the game. This changed the entire momentum of the game in favour of Real Madrid. However, both teams stood without any goal at the end of the first half.

Karim Benzema scored the first goal for Real Madrid in the 51st minute of the game. The lead was shortlived as Sadio Mane scored the equalizer in the 55th minute of the game.

Real Madrid replaced Isco Alarcon with Gareth Bale and it paid them well. Bale scored a spectacular bicycle kick goal within three minutes of his entry. This was the second-fastest goal ever by a substitute in a Champions League final and is touted to be one of the best in Champions Trophy since Zidane’s aerial shot in 1992.

Bale scored another goal in the 83rd minute of the game from 35 yards off the goalpost. The ball slipped right through the hands of goalkeeper Karius who has been criticized heavily for his inefficient performance.
