PV Sindhu Beats Indonesia's Fitriani To Enter Round 3 Of World Championships

Indian badminton star and Olympic medallist PV Sindhu outplayed Indonesian shuttler Fitriani Fitriani on Wednesday at the BWF World Championship 2018 in Nanjing, China.  

In the men's singles match Indian shuttler Sai Praneeth defeated Spain shuttler Luis Enrique Penalver with a score of 21-18, 21-11 in two straight games in just 33 minutes to advance to the next round.

In the 1st game, PV Sindhu managed to gain a five-point advantage over Fitriani at the mid-game interval with a score of 11-6, as Indonesia's shuttler was struggling to control her pushes from the backcourt.

Sindhu continued with her momentum and took an eight-point lead to make a score of 18-10 and after a series of strokes from both front and back of the court won the 1st game with a score of 21-14.

In the 2nd game, the Indonesian shuttler gifted two consecutive points to Sindhu to count the score 5-3 favouring Sindhu. Similar to the 1st game Sindhu managed to gain a valuable six-point lead at the mid-game break of the second game to make it 11-5.

The Indian shuttler seemed to be in a hurry to wrap things and played an array of attacking shots to take the score to 18-7.

That was more than enough to seal the deal and the match as well. The Indian star took just 35 minutes to book a pre-quarter-final spot.

Meanwhile, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy and men's double Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost their scheduled fixture in the round 2  of World badminton championship.
