LeBron, who was also MVP in 2006 and 2008, made 12 of 17 field goal attempts in 31 minutes of playing time at Staples Center arena in downtown Los Angeles. He is now all time leading scorer in All-Star games with 343 points in 14 appearances.

This feat ties him with past greats like Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal and Oscar Robertson. Only Kobe Bryant and Bob Pettit with 4 MVP awards have won more.

With the All-Star format changed for this season, LeBron James acted as the player-coach this time. It turned out to be a transition which weaved huge benefits for the viewing audience as flamboyant dunks and exhilarating game-pace was on display from both teams.

Under the new format, top vote-getters of both conferences (East and West) will be appointed as captains and they get to pick the players from the list of available players. LeBron James and Stephen Curry won that battle of the numbers game.

LeBron went for an attacking juggernaut selection of Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Demarcus Cousins, Kyrie Irving.

Whereas Stephen went for a balanced line up of DeMar DeRozan, James Harden, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid.

LeBron, a four-time league MVP also becomes the fifth player to appear in 14 all-star games, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (18), Bryant (15), Tim Duncan (15) and Kevin Garnett (14).
