Olympic Bronze medalist Mary Kom has been given a favourable matchup that would enable her to win a medal by just winning her first fight at Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2018 at Gold Coast. Her fight will take place on April 8.

Her first match will be a quarter-final thanks to her ranking and the participation in the division she fights in. With one victory Mary Kom will sail through to the semifinal thus ensuring a medal.

This is the celebrated boxer’s first and last appearance at the Commonwealth Games and the 35-year-old boxer is favourite to win the Gold.

Glasgow CWG bronze-medallist Pinki Jangra (51kg) is another one in the quarterfinals and will be up against England's Lisa Whiteside on April 11.

Meanwhile, much talked about boxer Vikas Krishnan got a bye into the men's pre-quarterfinals as Indian boxers were handed reasonably good draws in CWG 2018 on Tuesday.
