Malaysia Open 2018: Srikanth Loses To Kento Momota In Semi-Final

India's Ace shuttler Kidambi Srikanth lost to Kento Momota of Japan in the Semi-final of Malaysia Open Super World Tour 750 tournament on Saturday.

Sindhu and Srikanth both failed to win their semi-final matches and followed the history of no Indians managing to reach the final of the Malaysian Open.  

Kidambi after his victory over Brice Leverdez was unable to carry on the same form ahead in the tournament.

Kento Momota was seen in some sensational form since after making a comeback after serving a one year ban for illegal gambling. With the win in the semi-final, momota registered his 21st consecutive wins in the Malaysian capital.

The Battle carried on till 42-minute, which resulted in Srikanth lost by 13-21, 13-21 to the world no 11 momota.

Srikanth played a few shots brilliantly to take around Momota, but the Japanese had an upper hand all throughout the clash.

In the 1st game, the left-handed Japanese produced some wonderful shots from the back of the court to move to a 13-8 lead Momota thereafter continued to accumulate points reaches to 17-12.

After changing of sides  Momota was seen in full flow, the margin for error was almost zero and the Japanese utilize on every opportunity to score to lead 5-1.

The 2nd game was in progress as Srikanth built the rallies well but often lacked in confidence and miscued strokes as Momota moved into the game with full control and the score reaches at 11-5.

Momota's confidence completely shook Srikanth as he missed his trademark smashes. The Japanese quickly scored seven match points and a net error ended the journey for the Indian in the tournament.
