MC Mary Kom gave the sports fraternity a reason to rejoice, yet again.  Her stellar sixth world title triumph secured her the number one position in the International Boxing Association’s (AIBA) latest world rankings, on Thursday.

Mary Kom was placed by AIBA at top of the charts in the 45-48 kg category weight division with 1700 points.

‘Magnificent Mary’ became the most successful boxer in world championships history when she claimed the 48kg category top honors in November 2018, her unprecedented sixth world title triumph.

Earlier, this month she was also seen gracing the cover of fashion magazine Femina. The mother-of-three enjoyed a stellar 2018, by picking up gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and a tournament in Poland.

She also won silver at the prestigious Strandja Memorial in Bulgaria. The 36-year-old will have to jump to 51kg in pursuit of her 2020 Olympic dream as 48kg is not yet included in the Games roster.

In the 2012 Olympics, she became India’s first woman boxer to clinch an Olympic medal.
