Australian Open: Leander Paes, Purav Raja Crash Out, Bopanna To Play Mixed Doubles

Virtuoso Indian doubles legend, Leander Paes and Purav Raja after losing to Juan Cabal and Robert Farah in Men's double third round crashed out of the Australian Open on Sunday.

The Indian pair lost to the 11th seeded Colombian duo 1-6, 2-6, in an hour-and-nine-minute-long match.

On Saturday, Leander Paes and Purav Raja fought match with Bruno Soares and Jamie Murray and progressed to the men’s doubles third round at the Australian Open in Melbourne. The unseeded Indians overcame the Brazilian-Briton team 7-6(3) 5-7 7-6(6) after battling hard for close to three hours and stood out with their superlative net play.

Leander Peas on twitter, thanked everyone for their support and said, "we’re still improving as a team." 


Rohan Bopanna, along with Hungarian tennis player Timea Babos, will play the Australian duo of Ellen Perez and Andrew Whittington in the first round of Mixed Doubles today.
