Mumbai City FC defeated ATK in Kolkata on Sunday with a 2-1 score-line, giving their hopes of reaching playoffs a new lease of life. The Islanders now have 20 points from 15 games.

This is ATK’s fifth defeat at home i.e Salt Lake City Stadium, and are winless in their last six games.

The game started off sluggishly with ATK dominating the early exchanges but defensive mistake provided Marcio Rozario with a goal scoring opportunity which was aptly put away.

Two minutes into the second half, ATK levelled the score-line via Bipin Singh.

It looked like Mumbai City FC will have to go away disappointed from Kolkata but just barely minutes after having conceded, Mumbai City was celebrating at the other end. In the 52nd minute, a corner from the left was partially cleared by ATK defence.

Sanju Pradhan put the ball back into the danger area and Rafa Jorda was on hand for Mumbai City FC to glance the ball into the far corner of the goal.

Chennaiyin FC’s Mohammed Rafi dawned the role of a ‘super-sub’ on Sunday as he salvaged a draw against Jamshedpur FC at home on Sunday.

Jamshedpur FC took the lead in the 32nd minute through a powerful right foot volley by Karanjit Singh.

Chennaiyin FC piled up the pressure with wave after wave of attacks until it paid off when a Rene Mihelic cross was met by Rafi and led Jamshedpur FC defence stranded.

They now have 28 points from 11 games. They will now meet Kerela Blasters on February 23.
