In the second semi-final of Indian Super League, high-flying FC Goa took on Chennaiyin FC in a power struggle of the former Champions.

In the 2017/18 season of the ISL, the most prolific team in terms of goals is FC Goa. They have scored 42 goals from 18 games, making this a historic mark in ISL history. The former champions are ruthless upfront and have a knack for scoring goals for fun.

The bulk of their scoring though has been through their Spanish duo of Ferran Corominas and Manuel Lanzarote who have scored 18 and 12 goals respectively. Coach Sergio Loberas expects his attacking strike pair to continue finding the net and expects his team to contribute as well.

However, a chink in their armour is their defence which has been known to let goals in. It is a side like Chennaiyin FC who finished second in the table after 18 games can exploit.

Even though their star striker Jeje Lalpekhlua has hit a barren spell of not scoring for five matches, his coach John Gregory believes the goal will arrive.

"He (Jeje) will score soon. And the longer that (the lull) goes on the sooner he will score. With him, he has this little dry spells where he doesn’t score much but then suddenly he finds form and performs with back-to-back goals in the next couple of games.”, said the coach during the pre-match press conference at the Bambolim Athletic Stadium.

This is the first leg of the second semi-final of ISL, and whosoever takes an advantage in this leg will have an advantage over the two-leg tie.
