Opening batsman Chris Lynn showcased a different facet to his batting performance as he guided Kolkata Knight Riders to a six-wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League on Sunday.

Chasing a sub-par target of 176, KKR reached the target in 19.1 overs with Lynn scoring an unbeaten 62 off 52 balls with seven fours and a six.

KKR Captain Dinesh Karthik relishing his newfound role as a finisher, played his part with a 10-ball-23 to make it easy in the end. KKR with eight points remained in fourth place while Virat Kohli's men slumped further with their fifth defeat in seven games.

RCB captain Virat Kohli didn’t mince his words as he criticized his team’s performance.

"If we look back, we didn't deserve to win. I don't think we're trying hard enough, we need to be hard on ourselves. We don't deserve to win if we field like that. We can't afford to field like that and let singles go to boundaries. We were just not good enough tonight. I can't pinpoint anything right now, we need to win six out of seven to qualify from here. We need to be in that mindset to take every match as virtual semi-final from now," he said.

Kohli who stood tall against the KKR bowling attack and propelled his team to a competitive total of 175, once again had to see his side slumber because of lacklustre bowling and fielding. RCB who were one of the strongest teams on paper before the start of IPL, once again find themselves in a sticky wicket and will have to win most of their remaining games to qualify for the playoffs.
