IPL 2018: Kolkata Knight Riders Trounce Delhi Daredevils At Eden Gardens

Kolkata Knight Riders’ clinical performance enabled them to return to winning ways as they defeated Delhi Daredevils by 71 runs in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League on Monday.

Gautam Gambhir has led KKR to two IPL trophies and this turned to be a sour homecoming as Andre Russell lambasted 41 runs in 12 balls to help KKR cross the 200 run mark. Nitish Rana also scored an attacking half-century.

Glenn Maxwell (47 from 22 balls) and Rishabh Pant (43 from 26) kept Delhi in the hunt in a 62-run partnership from 32 balls.

But the duo of Sunil Narine (3/18) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/32) triggered a collapse as Delhi folded for 129 in 14.2 overs.

KKR removed three DD batsmen including their last match hero Jason Roy and Gambhir within the first three overs, derailing their chase, but Pant kept them in the game.

India's Under-19 World Cup winning pacer Shivam Mavi got his maiden IPL wicket in Gambhir (8) in his first over as the former KKR skipper played on.

KKR bowled out their opposition to a humble total of 129 runs and registered their second win of the season.

Delhi has now lost three out of the four matches they’ve played this season, and yet again a similar story of misfortune continues.
