Indian Women’s Hockey Team Seeks Support From Indian Fans

Indian Women’s Hockey team is looking forward to breaking the jinx and create history by entering the semifinals of the Women’s World Cup. The team will play the quarterfinal match with Ireland on Thursday. In the last 4 decades, India has never reached the semifinals of Women’s World Cup or Men’s World Cup. The last time an Indian team played in the final four was in 1975.

Considering the importance of the game that will be played today, Indian Hockey captain Rani Rampal and her squad posted two videos on social media asking Indian sports fans to watch the match and cheer for them. This is in the line of Indian Football skipper Sunil Chhetri’s appeal to Indian football fans earlier last month.

The match will be played in London at 10:30 PM IST.

“Please watch the match and support us. We need your support and blessings. Each player will give their 100% to the game, we need your 100% support. We will make you feel proud. Keep supporting India, Jai Hind!” Rampal said in a video message to Indian hockey fans.“

The team entered quarterfinals in style beating rivals Italy 3 goals to nil. If India beats Ireland in the quarterfinals they will script history. The team had not even managed to qualify for the 2014 edition of the World Cup played in Hague. The journey of Indian Eves seems straight out of ‘Chak De India’.
