An error between the posts by Leonardo Diaz gave India the lead in only the fourth minute of the game. Argentina's No. 1 flapped at a Deepak Tangri header from a corner kick into his own net.

Indian boys were dealt a blow when Aniket Jadhav was given his marching orders in the 50th minute of the match. As a result, the Indian U-20 side was reduced to 10 men in the 54th minute.

India held on their nerves to safeguard their one-goal lead with a scoreline of 2-1 and found themselves lucky enough to maintain it till the end as an Argentine attempt late into the five-minute injury time came off the crossbar.

India created history on Spanish soil by registering a hard-fought victory.

Speaking to media, Indian U-20 coach Floyd Pinto said, "This victory will definitely earn Indian Football more respect in the world of football. It opens up a window of opportunity to test ourselves against the best in the world on a regular basis."
