India ICC World Cup Triumph Marks Its 7th Anniversary!

It has been seven years since the former Indian Cricket Team captain, MS Dhoni struck that sensational six to clinch the ICC World Cup for India. Here is a tribute in honour of remembering the great feat.

India won its second world in the cricketing history. They repeated this feat 28 years after Kapil Dev led the team to win one in 1983.

This tournament was the last tournament the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar played and won the only trophy he ever wanted to win.

Current Indian cricket team writer Virat Kohli was only 22 years of age.

Yuvraj Singh was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for his all-round display, even though he was diagnosed with Cancer afterwards.

In the final, India met Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka batted first and rode on Mahela Jayawardene's innings to score 274.

However, India had a disastrous start as both the openers Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar departed cheaply.

MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir brought some stability back with their sensational innings to pull the match in India’s favour.

Finally, the famous six from MS Dhoni which has been replayed millions of times by fans around the world, and becoming the first team in history to win the World Cup at their home.
