While, fit again KL Rahul got BCCI's nod to play 2nd Test at Vizag ahead of Gambir. 29 runs in 108 balls in first innings and then bare duck in second innings in first became the reason for Gautam Gambhir's drop out from the Vizag Test. Gautam Gambhir had always performed well and had a high beaming career with 4154 Test runs in 58 Test matches, 5238 runs in 147 One Day internationals and whopping 932 runs in just 37 T20 internationals. However, Kannaur Lokesh Rahul had records of 562 runs in 9 test matches, 179 runs in 5 matches and 196 runs in 3 One Day International machtes. So, the question which is now striking in everyone's mind is, was the decision of dropping pro-player Gautam Ganbhir and giving preference to KL Rahul was fair?
