Ind Vs WI 2nd Test: Debutant Shardul Thakur Suffers With Groin Injury After Bowling Just 10 Deliveries

Young Indian pacer Shardul Thakur after making his debut for the national side and only managed to bowl ten deliveries on the 1st day of the second Test against Windies in Hyderabad before sustaining off with discomfort around the right groin region.

Shardul Thakur's front foot landed on the bowling crease as he delivered his 10th ball in Test cricket, it seemed to buckle and the pain was immediate. After a brief chat, the bowler left the field. Ravichandran Ashwin bowled the final two deliveries of the over.

Earlier, in Dubai, Thakur also complained of "right hip and groin soreness" post the game against Hong Kong in Asia cup 2018 where he bowled four overs for no wicket.

According to media reports, a statement from the team said, "Shardul Thakur has gone for scans. He will not take the field today. An update on his participation for the rest of the Test will be taken after looking at the scans and after being assessed by the team management."

Thakur became the 294th player to represent India in Tests after the team management decided to rest Mohammed Shami, who played each of the five Tests in England as well as the opener of this series in Rajkot.
