Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has scripted a new chapter in Indian Test cricket as he broke a 39-year long-standing record of Dileep Doshi during the third day of the third Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday.

Australia’s top-order was looking so helpless before the star pacer Bumrah that they collapsed in the first two sessions of the day.

Jasprit Bumrah surpassed Dileep Doshi to take the top spot in the list of most wickets taken by an Indian bowler in a debut calendar year.

Jasprit Bumrah registered his third five-wicket haul in Test cricket and a 6-wicket haul overall in the third-day test against Australia.

Nathan Lyon was Bumrah's fifth victim and was dismissed on a duck with a brilliant delivery coming into the pads. Apart from Lyon, Bumrah picked the wickets of Marcus Harris, Shaun Marsh, Travis Head and Tim Paine.

In total, Bumrah grabbed six wickets in the innings and was responsible for India taking a 292-run lead in the match.

Bumrah is the first Asian bowler to register a 5 wicket haul in Australia, England and South Africa in the same calendar year.

Three major overseas tours for India this year and Bumrah has proven his worth in all the three places.

Former Australia skipper Michael Clarke praised Bumrah's bowling, he said, “He (Jasprit Bumrah) must be a great guy to play with and to captain. He doesn’t mind the pressure or the expectations.

He wants to learn and is a workhorse. Not too long before he will become the best bowler in the world,” Clarke added while commentating during the match.
