FIFA World Cup has got their first finalist for edition 2018 on Tuesday. Les Bleus progressed to the finals after defeating Belgium 1-0 in the semifinal match at Saint Petersburg stadium. Defender Umtiti was the star player of the night.

Goalkeepers at both the end displayed splendorous skills as they denied all the chances of the opponent team in the first half. Both, Hugo Lloris and Thibaut Courtois made smart saves that denied Toby Alderweireld and Benjamin Pavard respectively and ensured the opening period remained scoreless.

However, defender Umtiti snapped the scoreless show when he nodded the ball into the net from Antoine Griezmann corner. He gave Les Bleus the much-needed lead after being trapped by the Belgian players in the first half.

Belgium tried hard for an equalizer but the side saw their first defeat in 25 outings as their so-called golden generation came up short.

France is set for the final encounter in Moscow on Sunday against Croatia or England.

Beating finalists at Euro 2016 on home soil, France will aim to go one better in Russia and emulate the successful squad of 1998 which included Didier Deschamps, who could emulate Mario Zagallo and Franz Beckenbauer by winning the World Cup as both a player and manager.
