FIFA 2018: Mina’s Header Books Senegal Exit From World Cup

On Thursday the FIFA World Cup progresses as in Group H, Japan's surprise loss to already eliminated Poland proved irrelevant and on the other hand, Colombia knocked Senegal out with a 1-0 victory in Samara.

The win advanced Colombia to the top of table, all credit to Yerry Mina's header which resulted in 1-0 win over Senegal. With the loss the African side were thrown out of the World Cup by virtue of their fair play record - the first nation to exit the tournament by the method.

The Senegal team of 2018 were unable to not repeat the cameo of the team of 2002 achieved by qualifying for the knockout round. Senegal team has undoubtedly featured some of the very talented and skilled players, but the team as a unit failed to grab the opportunities.

Senegal had a first-half penalty ruled out following a VAR review, while Colombia's key man James Rodriguez was substituted before the break and as a result of it could be in doubt for the knockout rounds.

The last night hero, Yerry Mina was awarded the Man of the Match for his match-winning header that sent Colombia to the knockout stages. Now Mina also features in the list of the defender at the World Cup, 2018 to score two goals after John Stones and Andreas Granqvist.

Considering the fact for the first time since 1986, no teams from Africa will feature in the Round 16.
