FIFA 2018: France To Take On Belgium In The First Semi Final

The 1st Semi-final of the FIFA World Cup 2018 will witness two of europe's heavyweight, France and Belgium, as they take on each other on Tuesday in Saint Petersburg for a place in the World Cup final.

France looks to confirm their berth into the finals of the World Cup for the first time after 2006, while the Belgians look to confirm their rich form and reach the final for the first time.

The Belgians have won all five of their matches in Russia scoring 14 goals.

Didier Deschamps side has scored with each of their last six shots on target in the tournament.

Antoine Griezmann has netted seven goals in his past six appearances in the major tournament.


France has conceded just four goals in their five matches in the tournament.

The talk of the night is the Thierry Henry, who was part of the France squad that won the 1998 World Cup on home soil, has been assistant manager to Belgium boss Roberto Martinez since 2016 and has helped guide the Red Devils to reach to the last four of World Cup 2018 for just 2nd time.


France and Belgium has a long history, head to head both teams had faced each other 73 times. France had won 24 out of them but Belgium has an upper hand with 30 victories under their belt and 19 of them resulted in draws.

Out of 11 competitive matches, Les Bleus have won five, lost three and drawn three. France routed Belgium 5-0 at Nantes in the group stage of the 1984 European Championship as Michel Platini scored a hat-trick, and in the 3rd place game of 1986, World Cup won 4-2.
