FIFA 2018: Croatia Eliminates Iceland With 2-1 Win

Ivan Perisic's late goal ensured Croatia topped World Cup Group D with maximum points as they ruled out Iceland with a 2-1 victory in the exciting Rostov-on-Don on Tuesday.

Both the teams struggled to place the ball into the nets in the first-half. Iceland created four good chances the first-half. Three of them missed the nets from a minor distance, while one of them was dined by the Croatian Goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic.

Milan Badelj put Croatian side ahead with a right-footed strike in the 8th minute of the second-half. Sverrir Ingason then thumped a header that drove over the bar. Dejan Lovren's handball followed by Gylfi Sigurdsson penalty marked Iceland's team come back with the equalizer cancelling Milan Badelj opener.

Both the teams were 1-1 till the end of the game before which Ivan Perisic shattered Iceland's dreams with a commendable strike to drive the ball into nets awarding his team 2-1 win in the game.

Milan Badelj stunning opener combined with perfect performance in midfield made him the Budweiser Man of the Match.

Croatia has topped a world finals group for the first time in their history as a result of their consecutive win in their three games. Argentina's qualification in the knockout was also confirmed after Croatia's victory.
