Serbia journey in the FIFA World Cup, 2018 ended on Wednesday with a rout at the hands of the mighty Brazilian team who won 2-0 and secured their place at the top of table in Group E, entering the knockout.

It was a comfortable entry for Brazil in the knockout stage of the World Cup, with superstar Neymar sparkling in a win which sets up a last 16 clash against Mexico.

It was Paulinho who had put Brazil ahead in the game with a superb dinked finished in the 36th minute. Neymar soon responded with a beautiful cross-pass for Thiago Silva to header the Selecao’s second goal with 22 minutes remaining.

The slowly build Brazil team has picked up the momentum quickly, few doubts had been raised over the team’s ability to qualify from the group stage. The team has won two of the three matches it played (with one match ending in a draw). They have not lost a single World Cup group match since 1998.

A sudden exit of Marcelo with less than 10 minutes left for the decisive clash against Serbia, was a devastating news for the Brazilians.

After the game, coach Tite said, “There is still more to grow’’
